Finding The Courage To Do What Is Necessary

I did the double on Friday, raising my honest opinion on both the dreaded article as well as the group ranking appraisal system to Dr V. What I finally spoke was just a fraction of what I mentally rehearsed, but yeah, she got the gist of it. It took me quite a bit of courage 'coz these are not the usual kind of Right Things you should bring up in a finale class.

"In the real world it's like this", came her reply. She went on about how ranking systems as such determined renumerations and incentives. Yes I get the point but we are students, where is the renumeration? Grades? Where is the fairness? Maybe you shouldn't cultivate this unhealthy mentality as a teacher?

Anyway, those who should have supported and spoken up didn't. Sigh.

Just before I left the class, we talked about the article isssue and she told me that sometimes PR practitioners get too used to editing til they neglect cases as mine.

"You should have told us earlier." Yes. I totally expected that response and I'm still wondering why I didn't.

Ok self consolation - I'm finally learning to speak up more, after the end of 4 years.
