Epiphany

On the way home earlier this evening, my colleagues and I came to this usual road junction. Where the green man just refuses to show up unless someone bothers to press the trigger button. Really obedient technology.

But as usual I just crossed, after checking the lights meant for cars on the perpendicular road. Can't be waiting forever for the next round. I mean, if those say green, the cars on my side can't be allowed to go ahead and collide with them. Never mind even if it's a red man for the pedestrians on my side.

As I turned back after crossing, I realised nobody followed. Everyone else subdued by the red man. I gestured to them to follow. And after some hesitation, they crossed, with the red man still on.

And something struck me. How the red man seemed to represent the recession - "Stay where you are," it shouts. While the green lights on the perpendicular road are the many opportunities that many miss when they become too focused on the red man.

Am I making sense?

K is now at a renowned global shop. And I just realised that J is now CD of a certain local agency. How much does that speak about opportunities?

I pray that mine comes.
